This evening brings together several British born-artists investigating their Indian cultural heritage, together with dancers who share this line of enquiry from America and India.

Birmingham favourite Aakash Odedra is rapidly becoming one of the UK's most sought after dancers. For this new piece, he has collaborated with fellow Kathak dancer Sanjukta Sinh in this duet, which gets its world premier at Southbank Centre.

This is followed by Seeta Patel and Kamala Devam, performing 'Last One Standing'. For their second artistic collaboration, Seeta Patel and Kamala Devam present a rework of the piece created for the Kadam Choreographic Award in 2008. Both contemporary and Bharata Natyam trained, they share an investigative approach to their movement vocabulary.

'Last One Standing' is a multi-media duet featuring film by the Maria Akesson. It is a sensitive and humorous take on game playing used as metaphor for life, explored through a physical and theatrical use of contemporary South Asian dance.

Visual artist Hetain Patel presents a seven-minute video piece, Kanku Raga. Encompassing video, sound, live art, performance and dance, his work interrogates language and cultural identity. With Kanku Raga, the artist's own body becomes the site for identity debate.
